The MEDHP Monthly – May

Sam

A Word From Sam

Well… it’s about time we did this!

Welcome to MedHP Monthly, our very first MedHP newsletter. If you’re reading this, you’re officially part of the MedHP tribe, which as it turns out, is a pretty good group to be in!

This newsletter has been on the to-do list for a while, so I’m excited that we’ve finally put cyber pen to paper, with the idea of keeping you in the loop and to give you a few tips, hints and tricks that are genuinely useful.

The MedHP Monthly is going to be the best piece of press this side of Bayside! We’ll be including:

  • A column from me which will be some feedback from what I’m seeing on the gym floor, common mistakes, small tweaks that make a big difference.
  • Gym updates and events including what’s happening around the place so you’re never out of the loop.
  • Easy to digest education, the ‘did you knows’ and the ‘why’ behind what we do, without confusing jargon or making your head spin.

We are hoping to deliver practical, specialised advice that you can use to get fit, get strong, stay healthy, and ensure you can continue to do all the things you want to keep doing- which is what MedHP is all about!

Something I notice a lot about MedHP is that it’s a pretty easy place to be, and I want to thank you all for helping to create the community that we have. People get to know each other. There’s camaraderie, familiar faces, check ins, encouragement and some giant smiles across the gym floor.

Yes you’re there to exercise, and yes we care a lot about doing exercise properly, but you’re also coming in because it feels like your place.

While this might not sound like such a big thing, it actually makes a difference. It’s a lot easier to keep showing up and being consistent when you feel comfortable walking through the door.

And that’s the secret to getting the outcomes you seek! Consistency, effort and time.

Every time you walk into the gym, you’re building towards something. More strength, power, cardiovascular fitness, better posture, better balance, more capacity to handle whatever comes your way. It doesn’t happen in one big flash, it happens in the small, consistent efforts that stack up over time.

So here we go! Wherever you are in your fitness journey, either starting fresh or well and truly in the groove, let’s keep it going and have some fun while we’re doing it.

We’re glad you’re apart of our MedHP Team! See you soon!

MedHP Clinic Updates

Our Members’ Lounge is officially buzzing! It’s quickly become the go-to spot for a post workout coffee or tea, a chance to unwind, and a place to connect with fellow members. Seeing the space filled with conversation, laughter and recovery time has been amazing. We also kicked off the year with our very first social event at the Brighton Croquet Club. After a false start thanks to the Melbourne weather, we finally made it onto the lawn in March for a fun, relaxed afternoon together. While the afternoon was social and relaxed, it didn’t stop some seriously impressive shots being played!

Game

We were also proud to host the Upstream Health Summit in March, a premier event designed to empower people to take charge of their healthspan. And what a success it was! Our new facility at 42 Advantage Road was filled with proactive, curious and health conscious individuals eager to learn what they can do to optimise their long-term health. The energy in the room was incredible and the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. Many attendees left feeling informed, inspired and motivated to take real action toward their health and wellbeing.

Award

Then suddenly… Easter arrived. And while we never really need an excuse to eat more chocolate, we hosted a “Guess the Number of Eggs” competition for members who came in to exercise. Congratulations to Lucy, one of our most dedicated and loved members, who took home the prize. We hope you enjoyed all 129 eggs!

Clinics

We’re always looking for ways to make the MedHP experience even better. You may have noticed fresh signage around the gym and our updated name: Medical Health Performance. We believe it perfectly reflects the connection between our community, your training and your health goals. We’ve also added some brand-new equipment to the gym floor, so make sure you come in, check it out and give it a go!

And the momentum doesn’t stop there. Things are moving quickly at MedHP, and we’re excited to share that there’s plenty more on the horizon in the coming months. We’ll keep the details under wraps for now… so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for the latest and greatest at MedHP!

The Team

Did you know?

Our HUR equipment automatically tracks your progress, power and training frequency!

Every feature of HUR equipment has been designed to simplify use, ensure safety, and increase motivation. HUR fitness equipment match your body’s natural muscular movement using smooth air technology. The result is a safer, more effective exercise or people of all ages and abilities. HUR machines target specific muscle groups in an ergonomic position. Its controlled resistance loading automatically adjusts as you progress to allow a safe and seamless movement progression.

As your body adapts to training, the same exercises and loads become less challenging, meaning your results can plateau. Regular reviews allow your exercise physiologist to adjust intensity, progress exercises and address any new goals or limitations, ensuring your program stays safe, effective and motivating.

Russell

Hello everyone!

My name is Russell and I hold a double degree in Exercise Science and Business (Sport Management), as well as a Master of Clinical Exercise Science and Rehabilitation.

I specialise in exercise rehabilitation for musculoskeletal injuries and have a strong interest in neurological rehabilitation. With experience in sport‑specific environments and a focus on personalised programming, I use my clinical skill set to improve function, build confidence, and empower people to achieve their goals — always with a patient‑centred approach.

Outside of the clinic, I enjoy staying active in the gym with my partner, travelling to new countries and experiencing different cultures and environments. My recent trip was a big highlight as I got to explore the different sides of Mexico!
